Who we are:
The Bob Tolley Mesothelioma Snowdrop Fund was set up in memory of Bob Tolley, who sadly passed away from Mesothelioma on 26th September 2006.
We as a family had never heard of Mesothelioma, which is caused by exposure to asbestos. When we looked further into Bob’s work history we discovered he had worked with asbestos whilst working on gas conversions when natural gas was piped to homes in 1973/74.
It took all this time for the disease to take it’s toll, apparently asbestos takes the slowest route around the body, which is why sufferers have no symptoms for years or even decades after being exposed.
We contacted the Mick Knighton Mesothelioma Research Fund, for support and information along with the British Lung Foundation who both raise funds and awareness of Mesothelioma and other asbestos diseases.
There is no government funding into this terrible disease, which is always fatal, so we wanted to raise funds for research into finding treatment and ultimately a cure.
Chris Knighton of the Mick Knighton Mesothelioma Research Fund came up with the idea of the “Snowdrop Fund” for anyone to raise money in memory of a loved one. Her husband Mick died from Mesothelioma and she had campaigned tirelessly for more research to be funded.
By setting up this fund in Bob’s name we can remember a very special person, who was a loving husband, dad, granddad, father in law & friend. He will never be forgotten, we want thoughts of him to raise a smile and a laugh. That is what he would have wanted and that is the sort of man he was.
We thank you all for all your support, we could not have got through it without you. We will continue to raise funds for asbestos research in memory of this lovely man.
Special thanks to Dan O'Callaghan, who designed and put together this great website for us free of charge.
Thank You
Bob’s Family
